You also want to give your piece a quick light sand with 220 grit sandpaper or sanding sponge. You just use your wood-burning tool to heat up the burn in stick so that little melted drops drip off. Veneered furniture can be refinished like other wood furniture as long as the veneer is not too thin and you take care not to remove too much of the veneer when removing the old finish.
